Third National Forest Inventory with GEOsat technology

waldinventurThe National Forest Inventory - NFI (Bundeswaldinventur; BWI) is a large-scale survey of forest status and forest production potential conducted on a random basis and using a uniform procedure for the entire territory of the Federal Republic of Germany.

For the inventory is employed modern mobile IT technologies are consisting of Outdoor computer, forestal recording equipment and GNSS receiver. A network of GPS/Glonass reference stations exists in Germany for a short time.

 

 

They are operated by the WSV (Wasser- und Schifffahrtsverwaltung). The GNSS-corrections are radiated free of cost about the medium wave (MW). Geosat developed a receiver with the "MXbox hybrid" for this application area. The MXbox consists of a GPS/Glonass receiver, beacon radio and Bluetooth class1.
