Outdoor Tracking

Outdoor positioning systems can be used to precisely localise objects such as containers, vehicles or machines in the open air. This is made possible by so-called GNSS systems (Global Navigation Satellite Systems), which include GPS (USA), Galileo (EU), Beidou (China) and GLONASS (Russia).

How does it work? A positioning device receives signals from several satellites simultaneously. It calculates its exact position from the time of flight of the signals, often to within a few metres. Today, the technology is so compact that it can be installed invisibly in objects.

Long runtime & smart functions

With modern energy-saving technology, the devices last several weeks to months, depending on how often they report their position. And they can do even more: sensors also record the status of devices, such as fill levels or intactness. This information is transmitted together with the position for maximum transparency and control.

Typical areas of application

  •  Logistics & transport: Tracking containers, swap bodies or vehicles worldwide
  •  Construction & industry: Tracking machines, tools or mobile equipment
  •  Agriculture: Tracking equipment or livestock over large areas
  •  Security: Theft protection through motion alarms and geofencing
